Provides legal information and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence. Advocates provide callers with basic and in-depth information and advocacy concerning the police, district attorney, criminal and family court, probation and parole, and social services such as shelter, housing, public assistance, and immigration.

Main Street Legal Services/CUNY Law School Battered Women’s Clinic – 718.340.4300

Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., must be low-income Queens resident.

Provides free legal services and social work to battered immigrant women in the following areas: Family Court, Orders of Protection, custody and visitation, child and spousal support, immigration services in self-petitions and battered spouse waivers.

Provides emergency housing, counseling, support groups, and workshops for moms and employment.

24-hour hotline, provides short-term shelter, counseling, legal advocacy and support groups for battered women and their children in the Park Slope, Brooklyn area. English and Spanish. Special services for youth, LGBTQ, and Spanish-speakers.

New York Asian Women’s Center – 888.888.7702 (Multilingual hotline)

NYAWC assists and empowers women survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. NYWAC provides services tailored to Asian women’s cultural, social, economic, and legal circumstances. Their staff collectively speaks 11 Asian languages, including multiple Chinese dialects, many South Asian languages, Korean, and Japanese.

NYAWC has the only emergency shelter in New York State addressing the specific needs of abused Asian women. They also offer transitional housing, counseling, and legal assistance. Free and confidential services provided, regardless of immigration status.

Violence Intervention Program, INC. – 800.664.5880

Provides bilingual (Spanish/English) services to women over 18 who are victims and/or survivors of domestic violence, including hotline services, non-residential services, emergency safe-dwellings and transitional housing. VIP fills a gap in domestic violence services for Latinas and their children in a culturally competent environment that is supportive, non-judgmental, and respects each woman’s right to self-determination.
